Finding a frame in ordinary things.
A window can be a composition before it becomes a view. Start with the border: what remains inside it, and what is allowed to fall away?
Begin with two colours
A restrained palette makes small differences easier to see. Choose a quiet ground and one stronger colour, then let the balance between them guide the image.
Leave room for the light
Empty space is useful. A wide area of sky or an unbroken wall gives a small detail its scale. The subject does not always need to sit in the centre.
Return to a familiar place
The same corner can feel very different in morning and afternoon light. Repetition is not a limitation: it is a way of noticing what changed.
